›› Abstract
Right now it is unknown how MyeVyu will be distributed for the fall semester at the University of Maryland. While MyeVyu has been and will be further developed for the Nokia 810, we are now looking into porting it over to the iPhone. Porting MyeVyu to iPhone will allow it to be available to a wider audience due to the popularity of Apple's items. While the iPhone has some interesting features the Nokia 810 lacks, there are several things that need to be done. First while we can develop for the Nokia using Maemo and a Linux Box, we need a MacIntosh to develop for the iPhone. MyeVyu will also need to be redesigned to fit all the proper information on one screen. The iPhone can find your position but it does not do it the way we can do it with a Nokia device. The iPhone has a built-in camera. While there are some promising future solutions, right now there is no way to send a video stream to a server. The iPhone includes a compact edition of openGL which will allow us to include a better map system than Google maps. Also included is accelerometers which will allow MyeVyu to be vertical or horizontal based on how the phone is held. Finally, the iTouch will also be looked into, but it appears to lack features besides the phone. All of this will be solved by taking the current code for the Nokia 810 and converting key parts from C to Objective C. The location code will be most likely changed by using the Core Location Framework available in the iPhone SDK. Although there are no results to report right now because we haven't started, it looks like we can develop the items we need on the iPhone in the next four months.
