›› Abstract

Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access, or WiMAX, is one of the leading contenders to be the backbone for next generation mobile broadband systems. Beginning with an overview of the current wireless scenario and competing technologies, this talk shall focus on the physical layer operation of the IEEE 802.16 standard, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and the RF level issues that prompt the use of this technique. Finally, it shall explore performance testing and certification for WiMAX networks and/or devices.
